MDL Selection for Piecewise Planar Reconstruction

چکیده
We present a three-step approach for the detection of 3D planes in image sequences of complex architectural scenes. In the first step 3D features (points or lines) are extracted from the images. A large number of potential planes are then fitted to the features in a second step. In the third step the relevant planes are selected with an algorithm based on the Minimum Description Length (MDL) principle. The presented techniques are demonstrated with synthetic and real-world data.

Incremental Model Selection for Detection and Tracking of Planar Surfaces
Man-made environments are abundant with planar surfaces which have attractive properties and are a prerequisite for a variety of vision tasks. Examples include application for camera self-calibration, scene analysis and 3D reconstruction. Planes are also used in robotics applications for obstacle detection, camera localization and for object recognition. Our overall goal is to build a cognitive...
متن کاملPlanelet Transform: A New Geometrical Wavelet for Compression of Kinect-like Depth Images
With the advent of cheap indoor RGB-D sensors, proper representation of piecewise planar depth images is crucial toward an effective compression method. Although there exist geometrical wavelets for optimal representation of piecewise constant and piecewise linear images (i.e. wedgelets and platelets), an adaptation to piecewise linear fractional functions which correspond to depth variation ov...
متن کاملModel Selection for the Competing-Risks Model With and Without Masking
The competing risks model is useful in settings in which individuals (or units) may die (or fail) due to a number of different causes. It can also be the case that for some of the items the failure cause is known only up to a subgroup of all causes in which case we say that the failure is group masked. A widely used approach for competing risks data with and without masking involves the specifi...
متن کاملEnlarging Domain of Attraction for a Special Class of Continuous-time Quadratic Lyapunov Function Piecewise Affine Systems based on Discontinuous Piecewise
This paper presents a new approach to estimate and to enlarge the domain of attraction for a planar continuous-time piecewise affine system. Various continuous Lyapunov functions have been proposed to estimate and to enlarge the system’s domain of attraction. In the proposed method with a new vision and with the aids of a discontinuous piecewise quadratic Lyapunov function, the domain of attrac...
متن کاملNew Techniques for Automated Architectural Reconstruction from Photographs
We investigate a strategy for reconstructing of buildings from multiple (uncalibrated) images. In a similar manner to the Facade approach we first generate a coarse piecewise planar model of the principal scene planes and their delineations, and then use these facets to guide the search for indentations and protrusions such as windows and doors. However, unlike the Facade approach which involve...
